With a single campaign, Rebeca Clay-Flores shattered several barriers.

The Princeton grad became the first person to defeat a sitting Bexar County commissioner in 16 years when she knocked off Precinct 1 Commissioner Sergio “Chico” Rodriguez in a July primary runoff. Clay-Flores, who is Black and Mexican American, will be the first woman of color ever on the Commissioners Court.
